My Superbowl 44 Commercial Summary and Highlights

Monday, February 8th, 2010 - Movies and TV

Superbowl 44 has come and gone.  In order to add some extra entertainment to the event I cracked open my wordpress and took a few notes about the commercials.  The notes are quick and disjointed, and that is what you get from this format of blogging =).

My two favorite commercial moments are the first two videos embeded in the post.  First the intro by Jay Z was AWESOME, and secondly the “man’s last stand” was REALLY dead on.  Great job this year marketing peeps!

First though, which commercials worked on me the most?

Audi A3 TDI commercial (cause that car is hot), and the Charger commercial (because of the hook).

Jay-Z Superbowl 44 Introduction.

Jay Z made the most epic Superbowl intro ever. #sb44

xanetrain from Twitter

I TOTALLY agree. I am not a huge Jay-z fan, nor do I follow football.  That however was an amazing intro for the games.

The music was great, the video was awesome and it set the feel for the game well.

Charger Commercial – Man’s Last Stand

Seriously, this commercial was really catchy. I know it has caused a bit of a stir on the web, but from a marketing point I thought it was pretty genius.

Some female bloggers were not very happy with the charger commercial. Instead of jumping into that discussion in this post, I am going to do some more research, grab some opinions and see were it goes from there. This may turn into a post at a later date, thats for sure.

Bud Light Commercials

The house of bud light was pretty funny. The cheese factor was meh, but still funny.

The book club was GREAT!

Hyundai Sonata Commercials

Very impressed with the approach of Hyundai this year.  The commercials seem to really be focusing on buiding the class of there brand.

Just saw the one about not bret farve still being in football in 2020 was a great play.

Budweiser Commercial

Human Bridge.  Okay I have to admit that this seemed cheesy at first, but a community forming a human bridge for the truck was classic.

Doritos Commercial

A dog sneaking behind a human and bark collars him out? Absolutely!

Just plain BADASS

Kid kicking his moms dates ass?

Again.. AWESOME

Doritos Casket? That was cheesy (bad pun) but still had some saving values.

Coke Superbowl

Having the Simpsons in a commercial just seemed cheesy.  Plus they took the simpsons style and totally fluffed it (noticed the backgrounds).

Bridgestone

Free Willy meets hang over theme?

That was just lame.

Cars.com

The commercial with the “really smart guy” was entertaining until they tied it to using cars.com. The brand attachment felt really thing thin.

Dove for Men

Any commercial staring off with sperm hitting an egg has my vote.  The commercial was really whitty however. It captured the “constant drive of being a man” really well.  Although I don’t see myself using dove, they did a great job.

Google Commercial – Search On

Google great job of keeping up with bing on media buys! The commercial about searching for a job in Paris did a great job if reminding viewers that we use google all day, every day for a lot of things.

Kia Sorento Commercial

This was rather interesting but surprised me.
