*Disclaimer: This post is a general reflection and does not relate to any single person I have dated. For the most part, I have felt very respected in most of my relationships.
Today I stumbled onto a blog that was talking about the 5 things that guys fear most in dating.
The list was fairly generic with things like “You will turn crazy after pretending to be sane”. One item however did stick out to my and was worth the read.
Fear #4: You Won’t Respect Him
A wise psychologist once wrote, “In a relationship, women want to be cherished and men want to be admired.” Men do want their partners to admire them. Not in a ticker-tape parade kind of way, but as a quiet nod of respect for what he does and has accomplished. We all know this on some primal level.
I have both read and experienced this before. Something about being a man makes you want to feel needed or appreciated.

“an independent woman is about being self reliant, not about being stubborn.”—i like that quote Julian, sadly, i have to admit that some woman, including me, sometimes slipped in that kinda mess..oh poor of my husband
i have to give him a lil bit more “nod” from now on…
I think in society we get so caught up with wanting to be “progressive” so much that we ignore the fundamentals that have been ingrained into our culture for centuries.
This is one of those such instances. One of the worst things you can do to a man is take his “usefulness” away.
I once heard a woman say “I like to make my man feel like a man…” which makes sense to a degree, however I think it is important that this doesn’t get carried away to the point were someone controls that manliness.
