The same thought crossed my mind. Having tried the veggie life a couple times, I always gave up because of one reason or another. The argument could be made (and is) that dolphins and whales have a higher level of self awareness, but I don’t think that excuse can hold up to much.

I take issue in particular with the way the dolphins are killed. Herding migrating animals into a cove and slaughtering them sits differently (notice not worse) with me than the way cattle farms are run in the US.

…then I started to think… why is it that we watch a movie like this about dolphins and have this incredible response… but then we let it happen to thousands of cows, chickens, and pigs every day in our own country?? And we not only let it happen, we encourage it by buying the meat from processing facilities in our grocery store and restaurants day in and day out?

I’m by NO means trying to defend what’s going on in Japan, but if we ATE dolphin would we have as much trouble with what’s going on as they do?

Sorry… I just really personally struggle with the fact that I’m heartbroken while watching this film (and rightly so) and yet do so while eating a chicken sandwich, in which the chicken was just as inhumanely killed.

Just my thoughts… but yes, definitely a film everyone should see… period.
